Pink Performance: Wesley Morgan

Posted by Gravity On February - 20 - 2013

Friday, March 8th, 2013 – 10pm

Pink presents a very special live musical performance by Wesley Morgan. Wesley is a devout practitioner of Swamp Noir, a musical style that is full of images of charming devils and angels with broken wings. It is junkyard swing that is ragged and raw with melodies that drop off, bend, and crack. It is broken down blues and a soundtrack for your soul.

Wesley’s set will begin shortly after the conclusion of the Pink Playshop.

About the Performer:

Swamp Noir singer, songwriter, and guitarist Wesley Morgan has released his first EP titled Backroom In Tulsa. Recorded and mixed by Grammy Award winning engineer Oz Fritz (Tom Waits, Primus, Bill Laswell), the four original songs on this EP provide a first glimpse at the singer’s dark blend of broken down blues and junkyard americana, evoking comparisons to Tom Waits, Randy Newman, and Chris Isaak. www.thewesleymorgan.com

This event is free with Pink party entrance.

Mission Control events are for members only | Become a member, it’s free and instant.
No alcohol will be served. This is a private event. 21 and over only (we check ID!)

A PAL is required. See our PAL page for details.

The Wesley Morgan

Wesley preforms a dark blend of broken down blues, junkyard Americana, and gritty country with lyrics that dwell on the darker side of creation. He calls this style of musci "Swamp Noir."

Tom Jonesing

For 9 years Tom Jonesing was a 10 piece juggernaut that sported a horn section, 3 backup singers, & a number of unlicensed & extremely dangerous go-go dancers.

Now, they’re a duo of piano & voice; still playing the music of Tom Jones with a few of their own musical ideas thrown in for the sake of artistic confusion.

DJ Fact.50

DJ Fact.50 plays lots of different genres with an emphasis on atmospheric and Old World beats.
His current obsession is Electronic versions of classic old world music genres such as Swing, Hot-Jazz, Tango, Ragtime, Cabaret, Neo-Classical, & many others.

IfnWhendy

She’s been shakin’ & shimmyin’ her way around the Bay Area for about 4 years now. She got her start under the tutelage of the epic Bombshell Betty. In the not-so-distant past she was the shyest of all the wallflowers. Well she peeled herself right off that wall for your libidinous pleasure. You’re welcome.

The Fossettes

The Fossettes are the fusion of a succubus, an Amazon priestess, and a pair of red-headed sirens. They have come together to channel the inspiring work of those who have come and passed before them, in particular the vision of Bob Fosse, from whom the group lovingly derives its name.

The Indra

The Indra is an international performance artist who travels across the globe to spread her unique brand of comedy. Her signature acts include performing bizarre monologues over song, he/she characters, & stripping out of gorilla costumes.

OPTIONAL DRESS: Mystic Carny, Boho Bozo & MIDWAY ARCHETYPES! (Mr Nobody, The Blue Mystic, Swami, Rosa Mystica, Harlequin, the Crazy Hobo, the Old Carny, The Professor, Mysterious Baghead Guy…)

What the heck is a Mythic Midway Pop-Up Carnival?
Scott Levkoff, co-founder of Kinky Salon & Mission Control and founder of the Mystic Midway explains:

"The Pop-Up Carnival is a bicycle-powered, traveling motley carnival that pops up in random locations throughout the city.
We will engage & (absorb & transform) audiences as we moves through the City.
The Pop-Up Carnival is set in the STRANGE WORLD of The Mystic Midway.
This is your invitation to step into a MAGICAL REALITY and bring to life mystical ‘rides and attractions’ and fantastical characters designed to befuddle, challenge and INSPIRE! "
