PrePink: Keeping Play Parties Playful

Posted by Gravity On May - 15 - 2012

Friday, June 8th, 2011 – 9pm to 10:15pm

Another fabulous pre-Pink play-shop coming your way!

Every Pink party launches with a playshop free for party goers. This month we learn a little more about play parties!

Keeping Play Parties Playful!!

Play parties are supposed to be about play, right? But it’s hard to feel playful when intense negotiation, underlying fear, overwhelming awkwardness, or just plain not knowing what to do come to the forefront. When you’re a newbie to the scene, it can be hard to know what to expect, or how to act. Even when you’ve been “out and about” a good bit, each play party has its own culture to be learned. Knowing how to negotiate a play party with grace and ease will keep you from getting caught with your pants down — or up!
Fortunately, there are some quick and easy ways to get your bearings and get your “adult” groove on. In this lighthearted playshop, we’ll get into:
  • the basic do’s and don’t's of play parties
  • and what to do when you don’t know what to do!
  • some easy ways to dip your toes in without feeling overwhelmed
  • the basics of play party negotiation — with your partner and new friends
  • and a fun and fabulous introduction to your next potential playmate

So bring a PAL and come to Pink early!

About the Presenter:
This playshop is led by Marcia Baczynski, creator of “Successful Non-Monogamy for Couples” and the co-creator of Cuddle Party. She is a long-time member of the Mission Control community, and a presenter at the Open-SF conference.

Free with Pink entry! RSVP by sending an email to info (at) missioncontrolsf.org

The sweet little songwriter is still at the center, but Uni and Her Ukelele has strummed up an army of saxophones, clarinets, and big band instruments to create her foot-stomping new sound. Uni goes multiple musical directions on her new CD “Lover’s Cliché”, trading her trademark solo ukelele sound for an electrifying backup band that switches styles from the Andrews Sisters to ELO to the Wall of Sound. If you ever been dazzled by Uni’s live shows, you owe it to yourself to hear her genre-plunking new release “Lover’s Cliché”.

Uni and Her Ukelele – San Francisco treat Uni and Her Ukelele returns to rock the Mission Control stage with her horn-y new sound! Chesthair A Go Go - Another balls-out boylesque set as Chesthair A Go Go takes Carnaval to a galaxy far, far away.

April 7th, 2012 | 9:00pm – 10:00pm, doors at 8:45pm

During LOVE-making, a whole lot more goes on then just sex. Connecting Between the Sheets will explore 3 of the many key elements to successful sexual intimacy: 1.) Building Anticipation: Setting the Space, Preparing Yourself, and Foreplay 2.) Look, Listen, Hear: Non-Verbal Communication During Love Making 3.) Winning Verbal Communications During Love Making. Rather than approach these skillsets as either possessing them or not, Brian chooses to see the process as an ongoing practice of mindfulness when playing between the sheets. The more mindful you are in every moment, the deeper the connection, and yes, the better the sex. Please, join Brian Baker in this informative and interactive playshop.

Brian Baker is a Board Certified Music-Therapist, musician, body worker, and alchemist in the kitchen. He is also deeply dedicated to the practice of how we can more effectively fuse the worlds of Spirituality, Sexuality, and Conscious Connection.

Guest Policy: Allies, volunteer and crew members may all bring one guest. Big Daddy and Endowed Crew member guest policies honored as well.

What’s that you say? You can’t get enough of Mission Control’s amazing, home-grown talent? You’re itching to rub elbows with swanky salon-goers? And you’ve been missing those smoldering looks that enigmatic diva-devil has been sending from across the dance floor? Fear not! The League is ready to satisfy all your cultured cravings this April.

This month’s cabaret features a special event: the official EP release by MC’s own Wesley Morgan, of Swamp Noir! Go noir with broken-down blues rolling out of a Saturday night juke joint, and stumbling drunk into Sunday morning redemption. Junkyard swing that is ragged and raw… irresistible.

Please No Jeans! (No, you will not be turned away for jeans, we’d just really prefer something with more schnazzz, if you’ve got it)

Trickster is a creator, a joker, a truth teller, a story teller, a transformer linked to the spiritual frequency changes humanity is experiencing at this time.

“We seem most accessible to the synchronistic gifts of the Trickster when we ourselves are at or near boundaries or are experiencing transition states, periods of major life transitions seem to be occasioned by an abundance of meaningful coincidence. Personal gtrirowth sees not only to facilitate synchronicity, but in turn to be facilitated by it. As an archetype, the Trickster, the boundary dweller, finds expression through human imagination and experience.”
