Threshold Guidelines

Posted by Gravity On July - 29 - 2010

Event Guidelines

- All play must take place after negotiation and with consent.

- The house safeword is “safeword”.

- Respect scenes in progress.

- Clean up after yourself.

- Don’t get overly intoxicated.

- Make reasonable use of barrier protection.

- Play to the level of your skill/sobriety, and be mindful of the limitations of the space.

- No blood, fire, or breath control play.  Thanks!

Our Threshold Charter is a short list of guidelines to help you enjoy our event. It will be posted and the front door, and one of the hosts will review it with you when you arrive. Here are some additional details and hopefully answers to questions you might have about our guidelines:

- All play must take place after negotiation and with consent.
We expect and require that you and your partner(s) have talked about limits, safewords, health concerns, etc. before you start a scene. If you need help negotiating with a new partner or don’t know where to start, ask a host!

- The house safeword is “safeword”
This will be considered a serious call for help from outside your scene, and should only be used after other safewords (yellow, red, etc) have failed.

- Respect scenes in progress
When people are in a scene, whether that is spanking, getting busy, or anything else, don’t interrupt. Not to say “hi” to one of the players, not to offer to “help” or ask to join in, not for any reason. If you have safety concerns about a scene in progress, find a host and discuss it with them.

- Clean up after yourself
Especially, bodily fluids must be contained. Cleaning supplies are located throughout Mission Control. Let us know if you need help finding something!

- Don’t get overly intoxicated
This event is BYOB, and we invite you to relax and enjoy. If you are drunk, however, we will ask you to leave.

- Make reasonable use of barrier protection
Condoms are not required if you are with a fluid bonded partner, but are certainly highly recommended for general use. Mission Control provides condoms and other barrier protection for your use. Please be sure to dispose of these items properly after use.

- Play to the level of your skill/sobriety, and be mindful of the limitations of the space- NO blood, fire, or breath control play permitted.
This space is unique, and will be well-suited for certain scene types of activity but ill-suited for others. Due to the lighting, lack of means for disposal, and porous play surfaces, blood and needle play will not be allowed. We also cannot allow fire or wax play. You are welcome to use a single tail whip, just be conscious of those around you and keep in mind that the most appropriate lighting is probably in the “dungeon” room. As far as playing to your level of sobriety, we expect that you can have a slight buzz and still safely give your partner a spanking and have sex. However we expect you to be totally sober if you are going to use a single-tail or flogger.

Examples of play:
So, what type of scene might you expect to see at this party, or what type of play should you plan on for this event?

-We encourage sexual play, or play mixing sex with BDSM. For example, tying your partner’s hands over their head, putting clamps on their nipples, and then enjoying each other.

-Running your submissive through some training positions and then “teaching” him or her the proper technique to go down on you. Impact play, such as with hands, floggers, canes, and paddles, or scenes involving bondage (from light restraints up to safe suspension) are welcome.

-Clamps, clothespins, safe electrical play, and other sorts of sensation work very well in this space. Scenes involving power exchange, protocol, roleplay, and training are great.

Mission Control is an artist space with mostly dim lighting and a sexy ambiance. Play surfaces are mostly horizantal and we will also have some crosses and a supension point.

If you have any questions, please e-mail your hosts at thresholdsf@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you at the event!

Threshold Sketches by Marc Taro

Posted by Gravity On May - 14 - 2010

For those of you that attended the first-ever Threshold at Mission Control, you know that it was nearly sensory overload with so many people having fun in all sorts of kinky ways. Mission Control was filled to the brim and couples, threesomes, and moresomes played in any unoccupied space they could find.

Marc Taro was on hand and used his sketching talent to capture some of that night’s activities. Mark was also on hand to capture some of the fun at April’s Pink party. Check them out HERE.

Threshold, tonight’s event, will be hosted by Chey, Stefanos and Nefarious and features Madame Butterfly’s hands-on rope demonstration and Marc Taro sketching the action. It’ll be a fabulous evening of fetish, bondage and domination play, and we hope you can attend.

Threshold Friday, April 30

Posted by Gravity On April - 15 - 2010

As some may already know, Stefanos, Chey, and Nefarious1 are hosts of a brand new Mission Control event at the end of this month, Friday, April 30th. It will be really interesting to see Mission Control get back to its roots as a great place for Fetish, Bondage, and Domination play!

Mission Control founders Scott and Polly were, for many years, incredibly active fetish event promoters, creating new events, designing costumes and hot, sexy attire, and basically creating space for pervy people long before Kinky Salon evolved into what it is today.

Stef and Chey have been coming to Mission Control since they first came into the local scene and later as a place to relax and hang out. We’ve seen them grace and honor our halls many times, most recently when the stunning and lovely Chey greeted guests at the top of the stairs, inviting us all to the relaunched Pink in January and February.

[UPDATE: All volunteer positions have now been filled. Thank you!]
[UPDATE 2: No longer accepting RSVPs from single men, sorry. ]
