Pink Report

Posted by Gravity On April - 21 - 2010

At the April 16th Pink, we were honored to host fetish artist Nancy Peach, on her birthday(!), following her art reception at the SF Armory. Along with Ms. Peach, over twenty fetish art lovers joined us as the official Femina Potens after party!

One of our Femina Potens guests was Marc Taro Holmes, aka Tarosan, who spent a bit of time using his marvelous talents to capture some of our Pink play in the above watercolor sketches. Thank you Marc!

Twenty plus after-party folks at Pink plus close to twenty rope riggers at Madame Butterfly‘s pre-class mixed in with another 50 ALLIES and friends made for a hot and steamy night. All that rope was thrilling – why at one point there was even a woman suspended from the pole on the dance floor!

Great Night: Speakeasy Japan

Posted by Gravity On April - 5 - 2010

Speakeasy Japan was a huge success! Thanks to everyone that volunteered to make Mission Control’s first Speakeasy a great event. And thanks to all the folks that came out and participated in a truly unique and memorable evening.

Big News from MC

Posted by pollysuperstar On November - 1 - 2009

FROM POLLY AND SCOTT:
Following our announcement in June that we are leaving Mission Control at the end of the year, we have been overwhelmed by an unexpected up-swell of community support. First it was just a resounding ‘noooooooooo’, and then, one by one, people started to come out of the woodwork to ask if we were open to a different plan. Rather than shut the doors, why not transfer the ownership of the space to the community itself?

Support for this idea grew until before we knew it, there was a dedicated group of people meeting and planning, forming committees and discussing options, drawing up budgets, proposing governing structures and devising voting systems. We were (and still are) a little shell shocked! But the most inspiring thing about this story is that these people who have rallied together are not your average folks- they are super smart, super organized and super professional, and they have the kind of mad skillz that Mission Control will need to thrive.

So at the end of this year we will be passing over the reigns to you, the community, and although it is the end of an era for us, it is the beginning of a brand new phase for Mission Control!

We are grateful beyond words to the people who have stepped forward, and although the organization behind the scenes will be very different, we are thrilled to announce that we plan to continue hosting Kinky Salon and our other regular events at Mission Control, where they were born. We are looking forward to watching as Mission Control skyrockets into success, with plans for new events and opportunities already being hatched, and we invite you to play your part in making that happen.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
The new crew still has a lot of work to do, creating a solid base which they can launch from, and they will be inviting YOU to participate. Your opinions will be needed on vital issues, there will be more opportunities than ever to volunteer, your creativity will be tapped and there will be some awesome, throw down, good times, freaky-deaky fundraisers to attend. So stay tuned to this bat-channel and don’t miss your chance be part of Mission Control 2.0!

DATES FOR YOUR CALENDAR:

  • November 17th
    The Proposal

The Crew will present their proposal for the structure for the new Mission Control. Will it be a collective? Or a corporation? Or a profit-sharing co-operative? Be there to hear the plan first hand, have your ideas heard, and vote.
  • November 20th
    Mission Control Fundraiser

    A Carnival Midway Sextravaganza!
We’re going to be partying carnival-style with midway games, stellar entertainment and tons of prizes to win. Be the first to become official members of the new Mission Control and pledge your support.

Invitation to be part of Mission Control

Posted by pollysuperstar On August - 4 - 2009

Following the announcement last month that Mission Control was soon to close its doors, there has been an exciting new development. A group of regulars are working together to form an organization to take over the space from Scott and Polly. We don’t know yet exactly how it’s going to look, but we are investigating a possibility that could SAVE MISSION CONTROL.

Now is the time to have your voice heard! You could be part of this new phase!
Right now we are gathering information, so please click on this link to let us know how you would like to participate!

Mission Control is a sex-positive community space in the Mission District of San Francisco. It’s home to many events, including KINKY SALON, CLUB KISS and OH LA LOUNGE. Polly and Scott, the current owners of the space, are moving forward with new projects and so are stepping down from their position to make way for new management.

The next ‘Save Mission Control’ meeting will be held on:
Tuesday, August 11th, at 7:30pm
Location: Mission Control, SF

We will be focusing on creating a Mission Statement and would love for you to join us and add your contribution!

You can RSVP for the meeting here:
http://www.openly.us/events/save-mission-control-mission

Even if you can’t make it to this meeting, please contribute your ideas.  A discussion about the Mission Statement can be found here:
