Every Pink party launches with a playshop free for party goers. This month, increase your connection through the power of massage.

Rub the One You’re With:

Do your beloveds beg you to massage them at the end of a long day, only for your hands to get tired after a few minutes? Do they constantly ask for more or less pressure? Do you feel like you don’t know what you’re doing? Do you want to deepen your connection with your lover by offering them the gift of relaxation, and learn how to trust your own intuition and refine your sense of touch?

In this playshop you will learn some simple techniques including how to ground yourself for the best quality of touch, how to use better body mechanics to minimize effort, and how to apply the energetic connection you already have as a lover. Drawing on her many years of practice and expansive study of massage, Nina will draw on multiple massage modalities to teach us how to cultivate mindful touch. Massage will be clothed and seated, mostly focused on neck and shoulders, and without oil. Bring a partner or recruit a friend to practice on!

About the Presenter

Nina has taught Swedish and Deep Tissue for 4 years and been a massage therapist since 2000.  She loves bodywork as a place to explore the poetry and mystery of the body.  She began at the San Francisco School of Massage, studied at the Sunshine Massage School in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and then came to the McKinnon Institute where she studied Diverse Populations, Asian Systems, and Cranio-sacral programs, among others.  Although most of her practice is based in Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Shiatsu, her approach and deep listening style is informed by these more subtle modalities, and she loves having the opportunity and challenge to learn from the things that make each body unique.  She has volunteered massage for sex workers at the St. James Infirmary in SF, for developmentally disabled adults at Claussen House in Oakland, and has also been a regular volunteer with the Touch Health and CARE programs. She has been part of the Mission Control community since its earliest beginnings, and balances her massage practice with her love for costume, performance, art, writing and cooking.  She is available for outcall and incall sessions and events both in SF and the East Bay – email her at shirlspawn(at)hotmail(dot)com to make an appointment, or to book your own couples’ workshop if you can’t make it to Pink!
