FROM POLLY AND SCOTT:
Following our announcement in June that we are leaving Mission Control at the end of the year, we have been overwhelmed by an unexpected up-swell of community support. First it was just a resounding ‘noooooooooo’, and then, one by one, people started to come out of the woodwork to ask if we were open to a different plan. Rather than shut the doors, why not transfer the ownership of the space to the community itself?
Support for this idea grew until before we knew it, there was a dedicated group of people meeting and planning, forming committees and discussing options, drawing up budgets, proposing governing structures and devising voting systems. We were (and still are) a little shell shocked! But the most inspiring thing about this story is that these people who have rallied together are not your average folks- they are super smart, super organized and super professional, and they have the kind of mad skillz that Mission Control will need to thrive.
So at the end of this year we will be passing over the reigns to you, the community, and although it is the end of an era for us, it is the beginning of a brand new phase for Mission Control!
We are grateful beyond words to the people who have stepped forward, and although the organization behind the scenes will be very different, we are thrilled to announce that we plan to continue hosting Kinky Salon and our other regular events at Mission Control, where they were born. We are looking forward to watching as Mission Control skyrockets into success, with plans for new events and opportunities already being hatched, and we invite you to play your part in making that happen.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
The new crew still has a lot of work to do, creating a solid base which they can launch from, and they will be inviting YOU to participate.
